Getting Started
The sensor comes in two halves. Place one on each side of a flat resistance band — built-in magnets hold them together. Power on and pair with the Bandcizer app via Bluetooth. The sensor is ready to record.
Any flat resistance band. The sensor is calibrated for Theraband Latex Free bands (yellow through black), which are already standard in most Nordic physiotherapy clinics. Not compatible with tube bands, loop bands, fabric bands, or Theraband Silver and Gold (metal content disrupts the capacitive measurement).
No email signup or password. The physiotherapist generates a QR code and 6-digit one-time code from the dashboard. The patient scans or enters the code. No password reset flows, no friction.
A smartphone (iOS or Android) with Bluetooth enabled, the Bandcizer app, and a compatible flat resistance band. The sensor and return label are included in the shipment.
The Sensor & Hardware
The sensor uses capacitive measurement to detect band deformation — how much the resistance band stretches — at 20 times per second (20 Hz). This is a direct physical measurement, not motion tracking. It captures force output in Newtons, time under tension, rep quality, and session completion.
A wrist-worn accelerometer detects that the patient moved their arm. The Bandcizer sensor measures what the resistance band did. Different instrument, different data. Wearables measure body movement; Bandcizer measures exercise execution.
Exercise prescription platforms tell your patients what to do. Bandcizer tells you what they did. Physitrack and Medbridge validate content delivery — that the right programme reached the right patient. Bandcizer validates execution — force, time under tension, quality. Different product category. Many clinics use both.
40+ hours of active training time. Rechargeable via USB-C.
Hardware maintenance and replacement for normal wear is included in the subscription. If a sensor malfunctions, we replace it at no extra cost.
Sampling rate: 20 Hz. Force range: 0–50 N. Battery: 40+ hours active, USB-C charging. Connectivity: Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0. Band compatibility: any flat resistance band (calibrated for Theraband Latex Free).
The App (Patient Side)
Real-time tempo guidance — audio and visual cues that pace the patient through each phase of every rep (eccentric, isometric, concentric). The patient follows the rhythm. The sensor records what actually happened.
The physiotherapist prescribes a tempo — e.g. 3-2-3 (three seconds eccentric, two seconds isometric, three seconds concentric). The app’s built-in metronome paces the patient through each phase with audio and visual cues. After the session, the sensor data shows whether the patient actually followed the prescribed tempo.
Yes. Patients can send messages directly from the app. The physiotherapist sees and responds from the dashboard. Every message is logged, timestamped, and scoped to the organisation.
The app supports both iOS and Android. iOS is currently available via TestFlight for pilot clinics, with App Store release coming soon. Android is planned. See the downloads page for the latest availability.
The Dashboard (Clinic Side)
Every patient’s training data: session history (when they trained, what exercises, detailed data), adherence (who trained this week, who didn’t), force progression (getting stronger or plateauing), and quality trends (improving execution or compensating). Data arrives automatically after each patient session.
Yes. Add your entire team. There are no per-practitioner fees. One price per sensor — everyone on the team gets full dashboard access.
Automatically. When the patient’s phone has connectivity after a session, the data syncs to the dashboard. No manual entry. No waiting for the next appointment.
Yes. The dashboard identifies patients who haven’t trained, whose force is declining, or whose quality scores are dropping — so the physiotherapist can prioritise follow-up.
Pricing & Billing
EUR 29 per sensor per month incl. VAT. No hidden fees, no per-practitioner charges, no feature tiers. Everything is included: sensor rental, full dashboard access, clinical messaging, hardware maintenance, and unlimited patient accounts.
Sensors ship directly to the clinic with a prepaid return label. When a patient finishes their programme, return the sensor. It’s reset, recalibrated, and ready for the next patient. Maintenance and replacement for normal wear are included.
A fee of EUR 135 incl. VAT is charged per sensor if it is lost, damaged beyond normal wear, or not returned. Normal wear and malfunctions are covered under the subscription.
Exercise prescription platforms charge per practitioner, per month — more staff means higher costs. Bandcizer charges per sensor, per month. Your cost scales with how many patients you monitor, not how many staff you have.
No. Cancel anytime.
Yes. Start with a pilot programme to see the impact before committing. We set up everything you need.
No. The sensor works with the flat resistance bands your clinic already uses. Most Nordic clinics stock Theraband Latex Free, which is what the sensor is calibrated for. No proprietary consumables.
Data & Privacy
You do. The clinic owns patient data collected through the platform. We store and process it — you own it.
Data export in CSV, JSON (Plotly-compatible), and MAT (MATLAB) formats is on the roadmap and coming soon. The platform is built around data ownership — your clinic’s data will be fully exportable.
Yes. Bandcizer ApS operates under Danish and EU data protection law. A data processing agreement (DPA) is available for clinics that require it.
Patient data is stored on EU-based servers, in compliance with GDPR. All data is scoped to your organisation — your patients’ data is visible only to your clinical team. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available on request and is standard for Danish municipal and regional tenders.
Research & Validation
12 independent peer-reviewed studies published between 2013 and 2024. The studies span measurement validation, knee, shoulder, hip, geriatric, older adult exercise, workplace, and adolescent rehabilitation.
Independent research groups at Aalborg University, Bispebjerg Hospital Copenhagen, University of Queensland, Copenhagen muscle research groups, Silkeborg Regional Hospital, and Aarhus University Hospital. They chose Bandcizer as their measurement instrument — they weren’t contracted to validate it.
The hardware and the capacitive measurement method are unchanged from what the research groups used. Six generations of software analysis, same sensor physics. The measurement method is protected by US Patent 9,561,400.
Troubleshooting
The most common cause is that the sensor is still recording a previous session — the app cannot connect while recording is active. You can tell by looking at the LED on the sensor: if it is blinking, the sensor is recording. Either wait for recording to stop automatically (30 seconds of inactivity on the band) or connect the sensor to a USB-C power source, which stops recording immediately. Once the LED stops blinking, the app will be able to connect.
Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the patient’s phone and the sensor is powered on (LED indicator). Move within 2 metres of the phone. If the LED is blinking, the sensor is recording and must finish (30 seconds of inactivity) or be connected to power before the app can pair. If the issue persists, restart both the sensor and the app.
Session data syncs when the patient’s phone has internet connectivity. If the patient was offline during the session, data will sync next time the app has a connection. Check that the patient’s app is not force-closed in the background.
Ensure you’re using a flat resistance band. Tube, loop, and fabric bands are not compatible. The magnets should click firmly on either side of a flat band. If the band is very thin, reposition to where the band is doubled over.
Sensors returned to Bandcizer are reset and recalibrated before being reissued. For reassigning a sensor already at your clinic, contact support at info@bandcizer.io.
